About us

The Russian LGBT Network is the first and only interregional civic movement of LGBT activists, organizations, and initiative groups united around shared goals.

The Russian LGBT Network is, first and foremost, people from different regions of Russia. We make decisions based on democratic principles and strive to include as many regions of Russia as possible in the Movement’s programs. In our joint work, we ensure equal opportunities and support the development of every participant’s potential.

Although we use the shortened acronym “LGBT,” our work includes lesbians, gay men, bisexual, non-binary, and transgender people, intersex and queer people, and others whose sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression does not align with stereotypical norms. The Movement builds its activities on respect for every person regardless of ethnic or national origin, religious and political views, age, social status, health condition, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or sex characteristics—while taking intersectional identities into account and recognizing each person’s unique experience.
